City officials are planning to create a new casino in Lancaster, U.K.

A developer says approximately 30 jobs could be created by the conversion of two floors of Riversway House, a vacant office block on Morecambe Road.

Our Lady's Catholic college is among 10 objectors to the plan, at this time, with staff there claiming the casino would be too close to the school.

Residents are interested in the casino, and planners are recommending that approval for the project is granted.

Lancaster City Council has received just 10 letters of objection to the casino project.

The city's planning inspector said that none of the reasons submitted was "not a valid planning reason for objection".

In the new report concerning the viability of the casino,  the inspector also said that neither the police or licensing authority had objected to the plan.

The Lancaster City Council planning meeting was due to take place this week. 
Casino gambling is legal in the U.K. and is increasingly popular as a form of entertainment there, experts say.
