New York Governor David Paterson is endorsing a plan to expand gambling in the state.

A number of proposals are on the table for gambling expansion, including expanding the hours and locations where gamblers can play "Quick Draw," and removing the restrictions on operating hours at race tracks, which feature video lottery terminals -- or V-L-T-s.

 
Martin said extending the hours for VLT's will likely be "attractive to a number of people."

But James Maney, executive director of the New York Council on Problem Gambling, said the state only promotes one message: that gambling is "good."
