When taking a break from the fast paced Las Vegas Strip, Loews Lake Las Vegas is the place to sit back and relax. Once you’ve taken some time to chill out by the pool overlooking great mountain views, you’ve got to eat.
And fortunately Loews Lake Las Vegas also happens to have one of the best Japanese restaurants west of the Mississippi River. At Marssa, Master Sushi Chef and Executive Chef Fuji Fujita is a local superstar. Featuring fish so fresh it’s easy to forget the desert locale and an extensive sake list. This is the perfect place to do a sushi and sake pairing. And recommend the Kobe Beef Shortribs, a signature dish. Reservations are recommended (702-567-6000 x4244), especially on weekends.

Café Tajine is a casual restaurant serving all meals. The specialty Breakfast at Loews program is here and includes custom-shaken juices, specialty press coffee, other breakfast specialties and sweets. There’s outdoor seating with lakeside and poolside views.  Open daily from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. Located in the lobby, the Arabesque Lounge has a variety of grilled items, sandwiches, salads and appetizers and is open daily 1 p.m. – Midnight. Marrakesh Express is a gourmet coffee bar and deli open daily.

But eating is not the only activity to enjoy during your stay. Typical activities guests enjoy while at Loews Lake Las Vegas include stargazing, fly-fishing, guided walks and hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, sailing, yacht cruises, gondola rides, eco-tours and meditation, all of which can be arranged by the concierges. In the past the concierges have set up private dinners with local celebrity chefs, arranged exclusive viewings at museums and booked private jets and helicopters to the Grand Canyon. To create something special contact the head concierge Karin Guidry at 702-567-6122 or via email at kguidry@loewshotels.com.

Of course no world-class resort would be complete without golf. The resort boasts two 18-hole golf courses. Reflection Bay Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus designed 7,261-yard, par-72 course featuring three waterfalls and plays around arroyos and other water features. The newest course is the Tom Weiskopf designed The Falls Golf Club, a 7,250-yard, par-72 course with varying terrain and a mountainous landscape. The course was recently named to Golf Magazine’s “Top 10 Courses You Can Play” list. All resort guests have access to each courses Clubhouse and pro shop.

The centerpiece of the Lake Las Vegas experience is MonteLago Village, a $500 million shopping, dining and entertainment complex. Designed to evoke the essence of a northern Italian lakeside community, this area of the complex also features a marina with watercraft and yacht rentals. Guests can get there either by complimentary shuttle bus or by boat.

MonteLago Village features several dining experiences including Auld Dubliner (702-567-8002; www.aulddubliner.com/LLV) an authentic Irish pub designed and crafted in Dublin and then shipped overseas, and Bistro Zinc by Joseph Keller (702.567.ZINC; www.bistrozinclv.com). This New Orleans style restaurant by the brother of world famous chef Thomas Keller is also home to a cooking school with classes open to the public.

Anchoring MonteLago Village is the 40,000 square foot Casino MonteLago, which is themed to resemble a 17th century Tuscan winery. The casino features a Sports Book, more than 600 video poker and slot machines, as well as popular table games such as craps, roulette, mini-baccarat, three-card poker and blackjack.

The resort also has special lakeside concerts and special entertainment events such as its “Movies al Fresco” series of outdoor films. The resort hosted a concert by famed performer Andrea Bocelli which aired on PBS last year.
