When it’s time to take a step back from the breakneck action on the Las Vegas Strip, Loews Lake Las Vegas is an oasis of calm less than 30 minutes from the hustle bustle party atmosphere of Sin City.
While the resort features all the comforts of the Las Vegas experience, a stay here is the antithesis of The Strip experience. It’s a restorative place utilizing nature, rather than neon and noise, as its backdrop that’s attracted such celebrities as Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones, John Tesh.
Located just 17 miles off the Las Vegas Strip, this lush Moroccan themed desert resort is part of Lake Las Vegas, a 3,592 acre master planned project which includes an incredible 320 acre manmade lake (the largest privately owned lake in southern Nevada) and has seen more than a $2 billion investment since the community began in 1987. The hotel itself opened in 1999 but has been a Loews for less than a year (It was previously a Hyatt). There are 493 recently renovated rooms, including 50 suites. Four of those are the highly rated Casbah Suites, which are located in free standing buildings and feature fireplace, kitchen, terrace, barbecue, and patio. All rooms feature 37” flat screen televisions, deluxe bedding package, contemporary executive desks, cozy bathrobes, high-speed Internet access and bathroom amenities made exclusively for Loews by Bloom. Most requested are the lakefront rooms, which account for more than one-third of the inventory. Be aware, because of the surrounding mountain vistas, there are no rooms with great sunset views. The resort is extremely family friendly too. There are many connecting rooms in the hotel and has the Kids’ Club with several daily sessions with age appropriate activities ranging from nature walks to face painting and sandcastle building. Call Kathy Amaral at 702-567-600 x4545 to learn more about Kids’ Club. The Activity Pool has a water slide, volleyball, sports court, playground and a white-sand beach. There is also the Fisher-Price® KidBana, a special Activity Pool cabana designed for tots that’s chock full of toys and games as well as a television with kids’ DVDs. The property also gives kids under the age of 10 a welcome gift upon arrival. There is also the game filled Kids Kloset and parents can also ask for cribs, roll-away beds and child-proofing kits for the guest rooms. For the adults, you’ll want to recommend Spa Moulay, which features 11 treatment rooms including two couple’s suites, a full service beauty salon, 24 hour fitness center and dry eucalyptus sauna. Available are specialized treatments including the signature Moulay Massage, skin therapies, body wraps, body scrubs and moisturizing facials, haircuts and styling, hair coloring, makeup application, manicures and pedicures. There are also outdoor yoga classes and a second pool – Relaxation Pool -- for just adults. Hint: The most popular masseuse is Keith Oyomat. Specialty poolside cabanas include the SpahhhBana, which is designed to enhance the relaxation experience and the BizBana, built to help guests be productive while they relax. Call the spa director Sarah Zimmerman at 702-567-6049 or email her at szimmerman@loewshotels.com for more information. The hotel is also a popular wedding venue too because of its romantic and isolated location. On site is a lakeside gazebo for the ceremony and a variety of rooms that can handle most any size party. For more information contact the catering manager Filtz Catering Manager at 702-567-6137. Pets are welcome and their Very Important Pets program offers gourmet room service menu, specialized bedding and a pet amenity upon check-in.
