Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell, a Democrat, is poised to name his chief of staff as the chairman of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Experts said Greg Fajt will succeed Mary DiGiacomo Colins, the chair since 2007, who is expected to retire within the next two months, according to sources.

Colins is reportedly in line to be named a senior judge in the Pennsylvania court system by Gov. Rendell.
Chuck Ardo, the governor's spokesman, said Fajt, of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., was not available for comment.

Colins said she "serves at the pleasure of the governor" and isn't sure when she will leave. Colins, 60, is a former Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge.

"I can confirm Greg Fajt is scheduled to succeed Mary Colins at the gaming board. The timing of that move has not been set. It is not imminent, but certainly (it will happen) within the next few weeks," Ardo said.
Colins's term expired recently.

The board this week disclosed that it has hired Kevin O'Toole, a commissioner on the Oneida Indian Nation Gaming Commission, to be the second executive director. O'Toole, 57, will be paid $180,000 a year. He is a former deputy attorney general in New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Colins said she liked O'Toole's experience in New Jersey.

"He knows every aspect of gaming," Colins said.
