Missouri’s casinos are reporting soaring revenues -- September sales were up 6.8 percent from a year ago. This represents a complete recovery from the economic downturn a year ago.

The St. Louis metro market led the recovery with a 10.3 percent rise. The Kansas City area’s  four casinos’ take of nearly $56.5 million was up 3.6 percent.

The September rise in Kansas City also showed recoveries of 1.1 percent from decreases in July and August and puts gambling’s total revenue for 2009 up a little less than half of 1 percent. That’s fantastic news and portends a recovery in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, experts said.

Casinos all over Missouri were given support last November when voters eliminated the state’s loss limit, which restricted gamblers to losing $500 in a two-hour gambling period.
