Baby Boomers

Day 2 (continued)

Celebrate with an ultra exclusive dinner at Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand (www.mgmgrand.com/dining, 702-891-7925). The ultimate dining experience, the restaurant offers a mind-popping 16 course tasting menu for $360 per person, among other choices. It’s located inside the ultra posh Mansion at MGM Grand. Another option is the five star and five diamond Alex at Wynn Las Vegas (702-248-DINE).  Also French inspired, Chef Alessandro Stratta focuses on Riviera Cuisine with items such as foie gras, Japanese Wagyu Beef and frog’s legs. Alex specializes in wine pairings with the tasting menu, which costs about $325 per person, $199 without wine.

Either before or after dinner, take in a show. LOVE is at The Mirage and is a Beatles homage utilizing new arrangements of classic songs as a performance backdrop. This Cirque du Soliel dance focused show is a great flashback to 1960s. Performances are at 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm and tickets run between $69 and $150 (www.mirage.com/entertainment, 702-792-7777). Much cheekier is “An Evening at La Cage” at the Riviera Hotel (www.rivierahotel.com, 702-794-9433) starring Frank Marino as Joan Rivers. Other impersonated stars include J. Lo, Britney Spears, Bette Midler and Liza Minnelli. It’s 7:30 pm and tickets are $55.00. Direct from Broadway is MAMMA MIA!, a musical based on the songs of ABBA at Mandalay Bay (www.mamma-mia.com, 800-632-7400). It tells the story of woman on the eve of her wedding trying to discover the true identity of her father. It’s an addictive musical that gets people up and dancing in the aisles. Performances are Sunday - Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. & 10 p.m. Tickets range from $49.50 to $110 and are available at www.mamma-mia.com or by phone at 800-632-7400.

The truly romantic will skip the show or casino visit and take their sweetie to renew their sacred vows. For a serious and heartfelt experience Chapel of the Flowers (www.littlechapel.com, 702-735-4331) has a special Renewal of Vows ceremony. Packages start as little as $199 for a simple ceremony, but can be quite elegant with priced rising up to $3,500 range. They offer between 15 percent and 30 percent commission rate depending on package sold. For a truly kitschy affair have them don their blue suede shoes for an experience at the Graceland Wedding Chapel (www.gracelandchapel.com, 702-382-0091). That’s right, either young or old Elvis can perform ceremonies starting at $199. The $799 Famous Dueling Elvis Package gets both!
